Special Naming Opportunities

Legends Court

Across high schools and colleges nationwide, naming athletic facilities after influential coaches has become a meaningful way to recognize mentorship, character-building, and lasting impact. Inspired by this tradition, an anonymous donor stepped forward with a $500,000 matching challenge to launch the Legends Court mini campaign.

This $1 million opportunity will name the court in Alumni Gymnasium in honor and memory of championship coaches who use(d) the court as their daily practice and competition space. It celebrates not only their successes but also the legacies they built and will continue to build within these walls.

This naming initiative is not a one-time honor. Legends Court will evolve, adding future championship coaches as they earn their place in Academy history.

Those coaches who will be listed, as of this moment in time, include: Jack Driscoll (2010, 2018, 2019), William Gibson (1909), Layne Higgs (1981, 1982, 1997), Virginia “Ginny” Kimball Johnson, Sandy Murray (1970), David McGinn (2019), Coach Stewart (1905), Dan Thurston (1981, 1982, 1984, 1985).
