St. Johnsbury Academy Announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2026
St. Johnsbury Academy is proud to announce the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2026. Anya Moriarty of West Burke, Vermont, has been named valedictorian, and Isaac Lenzini of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, has been named salutatorian.
Anya Moriarty completed a very rigorous academic program, including 13 Advanced Placement courses and two post-AP mathematics courses. She has earned AP Scholar recognition and is an AP Capstone Diploma Candidate. A National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist, Anya ranks among the highest-performing students in the country.
Beyond the classroom, Anya is a three-season varsity athlete, competing in Nordic skiing, cross country, and track and field. As a senior, she served as co-captain of both the Nordic and cross country teams. Her leadership extends into the school community as well—she is a Colwell Scholar and served as president of the National Honor Society, where she led service initiatives and promoted academic integrity. She has also contributed as a tutor and youth track volunteer.
Anya will attend the University of Virginia this fall. She plans to pursue a rigorous academic path that includes chemistry, mathematics, or physics, and is considering a double major in two of those subjects.
Isaac Lenzini also distinguished himself through an exceptionally challenging academic program, completing 13 Advanced Placement courses. He advanced beyond the Academy’s math sequence by his junior year and continued with Calculus III coursework at the University of Vermont. He is also a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist and a U.S. Presidential Scholarship candidate.
Isaac’s academic profile is marked by hands-on innovation and technical skill. He independently designed and 3D printed a drone, demonstrating advanced engineering, problem-solving, and iterative design capabilities. He also gained professional experience as a software developer with Linklings, where he created interactive mapping tools for conference environments.
A dedicated athlete, Isaac is a four-year varsity member and captain of the cross-country team, contributing to three state championship teams and qualifying for the New England Championships. He also competes in indoor and outdoor track and competed in the steeplechase as a junior at the New Balance Nationals.
Isaac has been an active leader in the school community as a student ambassador and participant in the Hilltoppers Inspired Leadership Learning Summit (HILLS) and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. In addition, he is an accomplished vocalist, performing with the Hilltones and local choral groups.
Isaac will attend the College of the Holy Cross, where he plans to focus on a STEM-related field of study and compete on the cross-country and track teams.
Headmaster Dr. Sharon Howell said, “Anya and Isaac are both stellar students and student-athletes, and we’re very proud of them both for all they have accomplished.”
St. Johnsbury Academy’s Commencement Exercises will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1.
