SCOPE will kick off the year with its first meeting today from 3:15 -4:15 in Ranger 212. SCOPE stands for “Students Creating Opportunities for Positive Engagement.” It’s a new club at SJA designed to encourage compassionate leadership through projects and events that you want to see happen in campus. At our first meeting, we’ll introduce the club’s mission and vision, brainstorm some ideas, and begin to pull our first projects together. We welcome new members at any time. Questions? Reach out to Mrs. Begin or Mrs. Morris. Hope to see you there!

Brain Bee meets after Conference Period in Streeter 241 today from 3:30-4:45. If you are interested in how your brain works and how to make it work better, stop by. Contact Mr. Eckel at the stjlabs email with questions.

Come join the Outing Club this Wednesday at 3:45 at the climbing wall in front of the Green Dorm and learn some vertical ballet as you attempt to climb our 35ft climbing wall. No prior experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome! If you are a day student, you must go to Campus Life and fill out a waiver.

Science Olympiad meets Wednesday and Thursday in Streeter 241 from 3:30-4:45. Interested in exploring atmospheric chemistry? Interested in building the lightest, strongest bridge? Attend at least one meeting to learn about the Science Olympiad and what we can do together. Contact Mr. Eckel at the stjlabs email with questions.

If you can still lift your arms after all that climbing the day before then come join the Outing Club again in front of the library this Thursday from 3:30-4:30 for lawn games with Mr. Moore. Bocce, bean bag toss, and the basics of frisbee golf—we have it all folks, so don’t miss out!

St J Library news: You’ll be happy to hear that poetry has its own section. Be it Tupac, Dickenson, Ovid, or Rumi, all poetry can be found on the main floor near the circulation desk. Navigating through poetry has never been simpler. The current book displays in the library are these: Trending on BookTok: the hottest books from the freshest source. Thank you, Victoria Scherer, for the heads-up on this. Literary Fiction: 15 Years of the Booker Prize. The rotating Manga display for this month is SLAM DUNK. And lastly, The Book is Always Better: Great Stories Coming to Films and TV. Don’t wait to experience these stories on a screen; read the books instead. Want to receive the weekly library book slideshow directly? Write library@stjlabs.com to get on the mailing list. Keep on reading!
