Seniors — a reminder that if you are interested in speaking at Graduation as the Invocation or Benediction speaker, the draft of your speech is due to the Headmaster’s Office by this Thursday.

Attention members of the Class of 2027, 2028, and 2029: Student Government elections will take place next Friday on Spring Day. If you have been a leader in your class and want to expand your role in shaping the school, please consider picking up a petition to get on the ballot for Student Government representative positions. If you are already in Student Gov, see Mr. J. Ryan today or tomorrow to pick up a petition. If not currently a rep, please pick up a petition from your Class Dean after school today or any time this week.

 

Scholars’ Bowl meets again today at 3:15 in Newell Hall 11.

 

A reminder that if you’d like to show off your musical skills this Spring Day, Cooper Cusson is holding a Spring Day Concert on Mayo Lawn and is looking for student performers or bands willing to showcase their talents. It will be from 12:00 to 2:00PM on May 15th. If interested, please email Cooper!

 

Are you interested in the punk style of music? If so, there is a punk craft event in the Morse 201 fashion studio, Wednesday, May 6th, 3:00-4:00 pm after school. There will be patch making, bracelet making, music, and more. Bring anything that you want to put patches on.

 

May is National Pet Month which promotes the mutually beneficially relationship between people and their pets. This month, the library features an interactive display with books about domestic animals and the benefits of animal companionship. To celebrate our Academy community pets, please bring in copies or email pictures of your furry friends to sjalibrary@stjacademy.org to display on the photo mural in the library!

 

In honor of AP testing week: bees dance to tell each other where the flowers are. The NHS Mental Health Committee hopes someone points you toward the right answer, or at least the right testing room.

 

Attention SJA students, please help us celebrate “Hilltopper Heroes Week”! Stop by Academic & Student Life to pick up a card to recognize a faculty or staff member who makes a difference, always knows what to say to brighten your day, or makes you laugh! The cards are made and ready for you to write a small note and deliver them to the person who makes a difference for you!

 

Congratulations to the Film II/ Adv. Film students, Cooper Cusson, Leo DeLucia, Ace Irwin, and Griffin Knisley, as well as their actors, Sycada Barnes, Moxie Stahler, Elliette Melen, Riley Washington, and Beau Roper who won the Cohase Film Slam competition over the weekend. The film also won: Best use of Location, Best use of Genre, and Best use of Sound.

 

Not only is Marcus Burns our Vermont Youth Poet Laureate, he’s also the beat boxer in the All-State A Capella Ensemble! Joining him will be Donley Johnson as a baritone. The All-State Modern Band will feature Sawyer Daffinrud on lead guitar. Zoe Bartlett, Ben Wood and Grey Cashin will all be in the All-State Band, and Raine Rashid, Moxie Stahler, Sophia Montague, Ivan Mullins and Lila Mackenzie will be in the chorus. Please congratulate these outstanding musicians on their selection to this year’s All State Music Festival this coming weekend.

 

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team beat Spaulding, 14-5. Devlin Murphy tallied 4 goals, Olive Annello added 3, Brooklynn Hibshman and Brooklyn Gingue both added two goals, and Bella Annello, Kalli Augsberger-Skala, and Sawyer Willard each added one a piece. Rylie Johnston was strong in goal adding to the team win. Way to go, girls lacrosse!

 

Girls Tennis beat U-32, 5-2, on Monday. Paula Ruenes overcame a deficit in the first set, winning both the set breaker and match breaker for the #2 position. In the doubles, Paula Gutierrez and Ellie won, despite it being Ellie’s first tennis competition ever! Moriah and Catherine also won in their doubles match!
