Women Can Do is back in person this year! Women Can Do is open to females and gender-expansive youth. The conference highlights careers that have often been seen as non-traditional, such as heavy equipment operation, law enforcement, engineering, bio-related fields, architecture, etc. Women Can Do exists because “you can’t be what you can’t see”. Registration opens September 1st and is limited to 10 students in the first round of registration. The conference takes place on October 6th. Please see Mrs. Murphy in S208 for more information.

The Science Department would like to congratulate Liam Markey and Hannah Macdonald on their completion of the Applied Scientific Research program at the New Hampshire Academy of Science. Liam’s research focused on PCR analysis of the biodiversity of locally endangered ram’s head orchids, while Hannah completed a Bioinformatic analysis of the biodiversity of locally endangered showy lady’s slipper orchids. Both students shared their work in a professional poster presentation at the Dartmouth College Life Sciences Center. We are looking forward to hearing about more of Liam and Hannah’s research moving forward this year! Students who are interested in pursuing individual scientific research like this can get more information about the NHAS and Fairbanks Museum STEM programs from Dr. Desjardins in Streeter 222, or stay tuned for future announcements about our first Biomedical Certificate program meeting of the year.

What would make this Friday even better? A Mr. Camelio joke, of course! Q: What do you call a toddler who won’t take a nap? A: You call them guilty of resisting a rest. 😊

Happy Birthday today to Paula Vera Gabilondo! Happy Birthday tomorrow to Lillian Chase and Emily Lumbra, on Sunday to Madeline Dean, Kate Yang, David Zajko, Chase Drinkwater, and Simon Robertson, and on Monday to Lucas Wagner!
