Boys Ultimate beat CVU, 12-11, and also beat Middlebury, 13-7 on Wednesday!
Through weather, the girls Ultimate team lost their game on Tuesday to a well composed South Burlington team. Their defense was outstanding, forcing many turnovers. Freya Yin threw a crisp pass to Kyra Fessenden for the season’s first point. Many more to come as they build in their successful plays and play making this season.
In their season opener, SJA Girls Lacrosse topped BFA, 12-5. Devlin Murphy had 4 goals, Emmy Morgan and Kalli Augsberger-Skala each added 2 goals, and Molly Kimber, Calla Wills, Brooklynn Hibshman, and Olive Annello each tallied 1. Addison Scott and Rylie Johnston combined for 5 saves in goal.
The St. Johnsbury Academy Track & Field team went on to win their season opener at South Burlington High School, with Boys winning with 239 points, and the Girls winning with 299 points. Daniel Carter and Bryan Stocker secured 1-2 finishes in the 800m. Jeremiah Watson took first in the shot put and Discus and Micah McDonald took 2nd in the discus. Giuliana Tizzoni dominated the short sprints, winning both the 100m and 200m, while also leading a full podium sweep in the 300m hurdles. Sydney Schoenbeck had a massive day, taking 1st in the 400m, 100m hurdles, Long Jump, and Javelin. Anya Moriarty and Stella Van der Linde were untouchable in the long-distance events, finishing 1st and 2nd in both the 1500m and the 3000m. The team showed overwhelming depth in the long Jump, claiming the top seven spots. They also swept the podium in the Javelin and Bailey Qualter took 1st place in the Triple Jump.
