The Girl’s Ultimate team is being rebuilt this year. New jerseys, new coaching and new energy from all of you who want to sign up and play this dynamic sport. You do not need any experience or ability to throw a disc, just a desire to get out with a great team and play a sport that Vermont is becoming well known for. Multiple VT high school athletes have gone on to win national championships, and world championships as players on college, club and national teams. This could be you! If you are interested, please check in with Mr. McKinnon at Streeter 225, and/or sign up on the SJA website for Athletics.

It’s Friday and we have a new Friday treat — Michael’s Joke of the Week: What is a woodchuck’s favorite food? Wood chips!

Congratulations to Chef B’s Belated February Random Act of Kindness winners: Seniors — the Dedam Advisory; Juniors — the Callanan Advisory; Sophomores — the Carr Advisory; and 9th graders — Mrs. Murphy’s advisory! Advisors — please pick up your treats in Chef B’s kitchen!

The bowling team went into States holding the 3rd seed this year. In the quarterfinals, Hilltopper bowlers faced Windsor, and came back from an opening game loss to win the series in 6 games. In the semi-finals, our bowlers took 2 games to 1 lead, but the eventual state champion Fair Haven Slaters came back and took the series in 6 games. It was a hard-fought match, with 4 of the 6 games coming down to the 10th frame. Standouts on the day were Juniors Owen Gregoricus, Conor Simonds, and Rory Nott, and senior Keagan Norrie.

The St. Johnsbury Academy Track & Field team competed at the New England High School Track & Field Championships at The Reggie Lewis Center this past Saturday. Manny Fliegelman finished 11th in the 1000 meters with a 5 second PR, and Bryan Stocker finished the 1000 meters with a new PR of 2:37.77.

Congratulations to the Alpine team. Both the girls and boys teams qualified last week at the Middlebury Snow Bowl and then competed this past Monday and Tuesday at the Vermont State Championships. Monday was the Giant Slalom Championship and our girls placed 6th and the boys 2nd going into the Slalom Championships on the second day. On Tuesday, the girls finished 5th while the boys team won the Slalom. When combining the two days the girls were 5th and the boys finished 2nd. Alpine awards a championship to the best combined teams, boys and girls, and the Hilltoppers took 2nd place. Congratulations on a great season! The teams will present their awards to the school in chapel when we return after testing.

Happy Birthday today to Karley Balch, Natalie Wheeler, Brayden Gingue, Rene Simakaski! Happy Birthday tomorrow to Holden Brigham and Brayden Donovan, and on Sunday to Aiden Thomas and Conor Simonds!
