Welcome to our Introduction to Welding course, perfect for beginners with no prior experience in the field. In our hands-on class, you will learn the fundamentals of welding, including essential safety practices and the proper operation of welding equipment. You’ll explore various welding techniques, such as Oxy-Acetylene welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), while gaining a strong understanding of electrode identification and weldment joints. Whether you’re looking to explore welding as a career or simply want to develop a valuable skill, this course provides a comprehensive foundation to get you started safely and effectively.

 

Instructor
Our instructor, Jason Mitchell, an American Welding Society-certified welder, brings 30 years of welding experience to the classroom. Since 2000 he has owned and operated his own Welding/Fabrication business. He has been teaching welding at SJA since 2017 and has had multiple students achieve award winning recognition at state welding competitions. He has an associate’s degree in Welding and Fabrication from Central Maine Technical College in Auburn, ME.
