Due to the rain, yesterday’s Cross Country meet was rescheduled to today. As a reminder, the entrances and exits to South Main Street and Barker Avenue will be closed this afternoon. All traffic must exit on Brantview Drive. Please exit slowly and safely as there will be many visitors on campus. Thank you from the Athletics Department and SJA’s cross country athletes.

 

Jenks Studio will be here next week to take school pictures! More information will be coming out soon, so please be on the lookout!

 

Calling all College Bound Hilltoppers! The following colleges have visits tomorrow: Bishops University at 10 am and Clarkson University at 1 pm, both in the Colby Conf. Room. Be sure to sign up for their visits on Naviance and to view all details. If you are scheduled to be in class during the time of the visit, please check in with your teacher before coming to the college visit. You are also required to return to class after the completion of the visit and attendance will be turned into the Main Office.

 

The Intro to Baking classes will have a Bake Sale after school tomorrow in front of the Library. St. J Academy Culinary Arts version of CinnaBon Cinnamon Rolls, Chocolate Zucchini Bread, and Cookies will be for sale. Nothing over $2.00 so bring a couple of bucks and treat yourself. We thank you for your support!

 

Attention International Students — The registration deadline for the October 15th TOEFL is Friday, September 23. Any student needing to take the October 15th TOEFL should stop by the Guidance Office to register with Mrs. McCaffrey.

 

10th & 11th graders that are interested in the summer 2023 exchange program in Germany should plan to attend today’s meeting with Mr. Ehrean. You will find him in the Colwell Center in the basement of the library at 3:30.

 

The Tahoe trip informational meeting is today at 3:30 in the Library Media Room. Please see Mr. Holden, Mr. Legendre, or Ms. Dickinson for more information if you are interested in the trip and are unable to attend the meeting. Adventure awaits — we look forward to seeing you this afternoon! 

 

Auditions for Academy Theatre’s fall production of CLUE will be Thursday and Friday this week after school from 3:30-5:30pm. The Audition Sign Up Sheet will be available starting at 3:00pm on Thursday and Friday. Please note: you do not have to attend both days of auditions. Callbacks will be scheduled next week. Actors-please prepare a short comedic monologue which does not have to be memorized. More audition info is posted on the Canvas page. Please email Mr. Walker with any questions.

 

Not quite ready to join actors on stage? Ever wondered what is beyond the stage in Fuller? Come and join the Academy Theatre tech crew! Meet the Tech director Josh Duncan and learn more in the Stagecraft shop just past the Black Box starting Thursday at 4:00pm.

Science Olympiad meets this week in Streeter 241 with purpose! Today to complete Bridge Construction and talk about Waves; tomorrow to work on Fermi Estimations and Waves; and Friday to Break Bridges and practice Fermi Estimations and Waves.

 

Mountain Bike Club meets at 3:30 today on Brantview Drive.

 

Nathaniel Hawthorne described the first type of photographs as capturing our “marvelously queer interiors.” Film has also captured “marvelously queer” moments since its beginning, like two men dancing in Thomas Edison’s laboratory as they experiment with this new technology called the motion picture camera. Come join the Gender and Sexuality Union as we explore very early representation of LGBTQ people and ideas in some of the oldest films in existence. We meet in Colby 207 after Conference Period today.

Happy Birthday today to Hillary Deschamps, Daniela Beltran Perez, Alicia Li, Richard Corbeil, Logan Holland, and Lily Groft! A special Happy Birthday to Isaac Lenzini from Mr. Lenzini and Nathan, and to Emma King from the Larocque advisory!

 

In girls golf, Charlotte Ng finished tied for 4th place out of 26 golfers with a 10-over par 39 at the Links at Lang Farm in Essex. Lorelai Bastress finished tied for 10th with a 49.

 

Varsity Volleyball beat Enosburg, 3-1, and the JV team won, 2-0. The team would like to thank everyone who came to cheer the teams on for your high energy!

 

This past Sunday, Hilltopper Mountain Biking raced at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center for the first of four races in the VTYC series. Standout performances include Sisu Lange and David Zajko, who raced to 7th and 12th place finishes, respectively, in the Boys’ Category A race. Levi Bretton captured a 7th place finish in the Boys’ Category B race. Of note: 9th graders Lydia and Cameron Reimert were SJA’s first ever female VTYC racers, competing in Category A. Congratulations to all of the Academy’s Mountain Bike racers this past weekend!
