National Honor Society Members please remember that we have our mandatory full Chapter Meeting tomorrow afternoon in South Church during Conference Period. See Mrs. Reed in Guidance with any questions or concerns.

 

The last day to sign up for the October 12th PSAT or SAT is this Friday! Please see Ms. Carr in the Guidance Office with any questions.

 

The Learning Center has moved to the balcony of the library! We are excited to help you with a single math problem or a whole capstone. We are upstairs A-block through Conference Period and will be back downstairs, across from the fireside, from 3:30 to 4:30.  Stop in and say hi!

 

Attention International Students — The registration deadline for the October 15th TOEFL is Friday, September 23. Any student needing to take the October 15 TOEFL should stop by the Guidance Office to register with Mrs. McCaffrey.

 

Congratulations to this year’s Hilltones and to all who auditioned! The list is posted outside the Band Room. Our first rehearsal is Thursday night at 6:15. See you then!

 

There will be an informational meeting for the fall and spring productions of Academy Theatre in the Blackbox from 3:35-4:30pm today. Please attend if you are interested in auditioning and/or working backstage-no experience necessary! If you are unable to attend, please email Mr. Walker.

 

Calling all College Bound Hilltoppers! The following college has a virtual visit tomorrow: The New School at 11 am in the Colby Conference Room. Be sure to sign up for their visits on Naviance and to view all details. If you are scheduled to be in class during the time of the visit, please check in with your teacher before coming to the college visit. You are also required to return to class after the completion of the visit, attendance is turned into the main office.

The Gender and Sexuality Union meets today after Conference Period in Colby 207. The week we will be learning about different identities and different vocabularies used within LGBTQ communities.

 

What do 120 pounds of squash and 4 bushels of corn have in common? They are both in the South Church Kitchen ready for your cooking. Join Chef Hale after school on Thursday to help the Academy feed the community!

 

Tomorrow, we begin our Meditation Club in Newell room 10. Please, prepare to join us if you are interested in learning about meditation… listen tomorrow for more information!

 

If you already know how to knit or if you’ve always wanted to learn, plan to join us for knitting club starting this Thursday, September 8 after school. We have all the yarn, needles, and expertise you need to start a new project or finish an old one. Crochet and other fiber arts projects are also welcome. Contact Dr. Vorhies or Mrs. Breen for more information.

 

The Maker Space will be open this afternoon from 3:45-4:45 for making whatever you want! We will continue to explore 3D printing, laser cutting, and other rapid prototyping tools. The Maker Space is on the first floor of Streeter Hall in room 141, behind the dining hall and across from the wood shop. 

 

Come join the Outing Club on its first big adventure of the year!  On Sunday, September 11 we will be going to Echo Crag in Franconia Notch to push our limits on some of the best rock climbing around! There are routes for beginners that have never climbed before, and some for our most seasoned Outing Club members. Don’t miss out on your chance to see some beautiful nature and get your adrenaline pumping while taking healthy risks this Sunday with the Outing Club. Get permission slips in the Student Life Office, and hurry, the first 12 permission slips that are returned have a spot on the bus. Dare to explore!

JV Football lost to Hartford, 8-0. 

 

JV-B Boys Soccer lost to Hartford, 3-0.

 

Boys’ Varsity Soccer defeated BFA St. Albans last night on Fairbanks Field. Silas Chapman and Riku Momozawa scored, and Gerardo Fernandez had an assist. Fernando Guiterrez recorded the shutout in goal. The JV team beat BFA, 3-2.
