Students parked on campus today: Please note that the South Main St. and Barker Avenue exits will be closed at 3:15 today for our home Cross Country meet.

 

Calling all College Bound Hilltoppers!! The following colleges have visits today: University of Maine at 12:30pm—Colby Conference Room, and IE University—Madrid via Zoom. Be sure to sign up for their visits on Naviance and view all details. If you are scheduled to be in class during the time of the visit, please check in with your teacher before coming to the college visit.

 

The following colleges will have visits tomorrow: Paul Smiths College of Arts and Science, Saint Michael’s College, Keene State College, University of So California, and Tulane University of Louisiana. Be sure to visit Naviance to sign up for all college visits.

 

Each month, Chef B does a Random Act of Kindness, in which advisories are the lucky recipients of a box of goodies! This month’s Random Act of Kindness winners are—for the Senior class: the Mantius advisory; for the Junior class: the Camelio advisory; for the Sophomore class: the Hemond advisory; and for the Freshman class: the Sayarath advisory. Congratulations! Your boxes of advisory munchies will be delivered one day this week.

 

Attention Sophomores! Ready for some fun with your class? Mark your calendars for the first event of the year. Outdoor Movie night in the amphitheater, this Saturday, Sept 18 from 7:30 -10. The featured movie will be Jumanji- The next level. There is no charge for the movie and the first bag of popcorn is free. Drinks and other snacks will be sold throughout the evening. Grab a friend and come join the fun with your classmates Saturday, Sept 18 at 7:30.

 

The Garden Club will meet today, after conference period, to start work on our first project. Please meet in ST226 with clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will walk over to the Tower House and begin digging perennials for use in future projects.

 

We all need to re-energize after school! Come to Salsa Steps this week with Ms. Woods in Newell Hall 25. We will learn basic and easy salsa steps and then, practice. No partners are needed, and no experience is necessary. Bring your friends! This Tuesday in Newell 25 learn basic Salsa with Ms. Woods.

 

SCOPE will meet today at 3:30 in Ranger 212. SCOPE is based on the mission of Jane Goodall’s organization “Roots and Shoots,” which fosters respect and compassion, promotes understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and inspires each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, other animals, and the environment.” Last week, at our first meeting of the year, members came up with some great project ideas designed to benefit our school and the local communities. The club serves as a platform for your individual and collective creativity, and we always welcome new members. Come check us out at 3:30. See Mrs. Morris or Mrs. Begin with any questions.

 

Outing Club will meet Wednesday at 3:45 at our rock wall in front of the Green Dorm. If we need to make adjustments due to the weather, they will come to you via your STJlabs email.

 

Outing Club will offer lawn games on Stowe green in front of the library this Thursday at 3:30. Come hone your skills or try out something new.

 

Are you interested in a writing retreat in the White Mountains? Want to enjoy the fall colors with a walk in the woods and time with your notebook? Would you enjoy a spaghetti supper in the company of other writers? If you’re interested, please see Mrs. Mackenzie, Mrs. Jolliffe, or Mrs. Morris to pick up a permission slip. The trip to Copper Cannon Camp, hosted by Writer’s Block, will take place directly after school on Thursday, October 7, our long weekend. We’ll return by 9pm. Your place will be secured on the trip when you turn in a permission slip and $7 to cover dinner costs. All are welcome! Sign up fast… slots for this annual trip typically go very quickly!

 

Have you been wanting to shoot hoops or kick a soccer ball around in the field house after school? Has Mrs. Higgs kicked you out afterschool? She won’t tomorrow!!! Join Mr. LaCroix in the Field House after school for some Field House fun!

 

The Academy’s Meditation Club, known as The Breathing Room, meets on Wednesdays this semester, not Thursdays! Wednesday is tomorrow! If you would like to find and cultivate your inner calm, please join us in Newell Hall 10 tomorrow at 3:30. Beginner meditators are welcome! Please see Ms. Greenstone in NH 10 with questions.
