Green Day
Women Can Do participants who have not read or not responded to Mrs. McGarvin’s email – this message is for you! Mrs. McGarvin sent an email on October 1st with important info relating to departure time, required attire, and maple creamees. Please read it and reply today to confirm you’re prepared for our trip in two days! If any participants have questions, feel free to stop by Streeter 210 today or tomorrow.
This Saturday, October 10, there will be a friendly soccer match between SJA students and our guests from Spain. Our team is short seven players, and we need you! No experience is required. The teams are co-ed, and the game is just for fun. If you are interested in representing our school, please let Mrs. Elizalde or Mrs. Montague know as soon as possible.
It’s a Kind of Magic, Sympathy for the Devil, Abracadabra… These are just some of the musical hits inspired by the supernatural in our current age. But did you know there is a long and dark tradition of paranormal-inspired music that predates Queen, The Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga? To hear some of these other voices from the past, you will need to come on the Vermont Symphony Orchestra Halloween concert trip in Burlington on Saturday 10/31. Tickets cost just $15, and you will need to pick up a signed permission slip from the Learning Center, Ranger 110, the Library circulation desk, or Student Life. See Mr. Mackenzie if you have any questions. As Benson Boone reminds us: some opportunities are just too “magical, mystical” to be missed!!
Don’t forget to stop by Colby 1st floor hallway to spot the troll? Members of Mr. Eckhardt’s Contemporary Issues class have created both ‘real’ and ‘troll’ social media accounts for you to test your ability to spot the fake accounts. Stop by today and test your knowledge!
As the weather gets colder, we want to make sure everyone in our community has a warm coat for the season. Free coats are available for students who need or want one. There are a variety of sizes available, so please stop by the Colby lobby and see what is available on the rack labeled ‘free coats’. If you don’t see your size? No problem! Email sjacampuslife@stjacademy.org, and we’ll do our best to help. Staying warm is important, and we’re happy to help however we can!
On Saturday, the Boys Cross Country team competed in the Thetford Woods Trail Run against 34 teams from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. The Hilltoppers put together a strong performance, finishing 4th overall. John Thornton Sherman, Bryan Stocker, and Rory Nott led the way with impressive individual performances and helped pace the team to another strong finish.
