Tomorrow will be a Variety Day to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The cost is $1, and any additional donations are greatly appreciated. Advisors, please collect donations from your advisees during your advisory time, and NHS members will stop by to collect the money. Thank you for helping support individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Join the SJA Team for the NEK Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, September 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center. Over the years, SJA students, staff, athletic teams, and volunteers have come together to support this meaningful cause, and we’d love to see even more of our community involved this year. Vermont Works for Women welcomes anyone who identifies as a girl, as well as non-binary or gender expansive youth who are comfortable in a girl-centered space to attend Women Can Do on Oct. 8. Women Can Do is a one-day trades and STEM career exploration conference where you can meet local employers, learn hands-on skills with tools and equipment, and explore exciting education and career pathways. Interested students should stop by Mrs. McGarvin’s room in Streeter 210 to pick up permission slips, which must be returned by end of day Wednesday, September 23rd. Space is limited!
Scholars’ Bowl will meet today and every Tuesday at 3:30 in Newell Hall 11. Come by to practice your buzzer skills and fun competition. See Mr. Callanan with questions.
The Math Honors Society has a mission to raise awareness of mathematical concepts and improve math comprehension in the greater community. We do this through events, chapel talks, newspaper articles, and tutoring opportunities. We also prepare for math competitions such as the New England Math League by working on practice problems. We meet in SV15 every Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:15. All our welcome to join!
St. Johnsbury Academy hosted its first two mountain bike races this past weekend at Burke Mountain Resort. On Saturday, in the JV Cross Country races, Whittaker Kittredge finished 10th among Category C boys. In the Varsity races, Tillie Lange finished 4th among girls and Brody Dussault finished 9th among boys. On Sunday, in the JV Enduro races, in Category B Effie Dunn finished 2nd among girls and Ignacio Montague finished 5th among boys. In Category C, Ben Lund finished 3rd among boys. In the Varsity Enduro races, Cyrus Kidder finished 2nd and Merrik Williams 5th among boys, and Tillie Lange finished 2nd in the girls race. The team wishes to send congratulations to independent rider Mary Jane Kissinger for her first place finish in the girls Varsity enduro race. Congratulations to all racers!
Boys Varsity Soccer beat CVU in overtime last night, 2-1. 20 minutes into 2nd half on a Joao Victor penalty kick. Game remained tied through regular time despite increasing St. J pressure. 5 minutes into the OT Sebastian “Chiki” Fernandes scored the game winning “golden” goal off an excellent Mateo Jerez cross. The JV team also beat CVU, 3-0. Ethan Ackerman earned his first shut out and Will Levesque scored all three goals for the team.
The Boys golf team took third in their match on Monday night at Champlain Country Club.
