Ms. Elizalde and Ms. Woods will be offering a Tropical Dance Club. Come learn about Hispanic culture while exercising and learning popular dances. We meet on Wednesdays in Newell 13. Follow the music!
The Maker Space will host a workshop on using the vinyl cutter on Wednesday starting at 3:30. Come join us to make a custom sticker for your phone case or water bottle! Resident students should check in with Mr. Lacroix in Student Life if you will miss your regular club in order to attend.
Math Team will be meeting beginning today and every Tuesday in Severance 19 for the spring semester of math competitions. This week, we have the ASMA #3 and January New Englands. Upcoming, 3 more ASMA monthly competitions, 2 more the New England Math League, the annual MathCon, the UVM High School Contest, and a possible TrigStar competition. For those who don’t love the competitions, we will also have a KenKen challenge and jigsaw puzzles as well.
Attention students! Anyone interested in joining the Dungeons and Dragons club that meets every Wednesday in the dining hall, please get in touch with Mr. O’Brien in Streeter 266 or by email. Whether you want to play in a campaign or lead one as a Dungeon Master, all are welcome to join.
The Student Athletic Advisory Council encourages you to vote for this week’s Caledonian Record Athlete of the Week nominees: Addison Jensen from Indoor Track and Zack Alamuddin from Alpine Skiing.
Math Team would like to congratulate Yubo Zhang for taking the AMC 12 with us in November and qualifying for the 2nd round of that competition, the AIME!
On Sunday at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational held at Harvard University; a meet featuring College and Open athletes as well as High School, Andrew Thornton-Sherman broke the Vermont State Record in the 1000m by over 3 seconds and placed 2nd in the 60m hurdles. Brooke White won the 400m, the triple jump and placed 2nd in the 300m, Rylee Strohm placed 2nd in the 800 and 3rd in the 3000m, Carson Eames placed 3rd in the 800. Both 4×400 relays placed 2nd overall.
The Bowling team won a hard fought victory over Craftsbury on the way to a 2nd place finish in a four team match in Randolph on Saturday. This weekend, we hope you will come out to Gold Crown Lanes to cheer on the team. It is the Bowling Team’s first ever home match. Come cheer on your Hilltopper Bowlers! Team matches will begin at 10:30am.
Boys Varsity Basketball came out firing with seven first-half three point field goals, and in the third quarter gained separation with their full court pressure defense to beat Rutland, 76-60. Harry Geng led with 28 points, Kerrick Medose had 17 points, and Rex Hauser scored 11 points. The Hilltoppers will play home Thursday vs Burlington.
