White Day

Tomorrow will be a Variety Day to raise funds for VT Supports, which will send 600 care packages to troops deployed during the holidays. This organization was founded by the widow of Academy alum, Joey Fortin, who died fighting in Afghanistan in 2009. The cost is $1.00. As always, no leggings, yoga pants, or pants with holes in them are allowed, and all clothing must be school appropriate.

Seniors — there are still over 100 of you who have not submitted your cap and gown measurements. Please submit via the survey that was sent to your stjlabs account or stop by the Headmaster’s Office and see Mrs. Legendre today!  Measurements are due by tomorrow!

Attention Student Government members: Please remember to attend today’s meeting in the Mayo Lounge at 3:10. Please see Mr. Ryan or Rory if you have any conflicts.

Capstone Day is right around the corner and will be a full day event this fall! Presentations will be spread across three sessions (two in the morning and one in the afternoon). Juniors and Seniors, please check your stjlabs email for a survey from the Capstone Department asking about your venue preferences. We know many of you are excited to attend particular sessions to help support your classmates, so you can indicate your top three venue choices for each session. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but please keep in mind there are space limitations for some of the venues. The survey must be completed by Monday, November 14.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. The need for blood is constant and current supplies are low. You can help the American Red Cross make sure that supply meets demand. On Wednesday, November 16th, St. Johnsbury Academy will be hosting a Blood Drive. Sign-ups will be in the dining hall during C block beginning today, and will run through next Tuesday, November 15. Students 16 years of age may donate with parental consent. Students 17 years and older can donate without the consent form. Stop by the table in the dining hall or see Mrs. McCaffrey in the Guidance Office with any questions and to schedule your appointment. Give the gift of life. Donate Blood.

The Athletics Department will host the Winter Meet the Coaches event Monday, November 14 at 6 pm in Alumni Gym. Following general introductions, team meetings will be held in Alumni Gym and the Morse Center. Winter practices/tryouts will begin November 28.

The bins in the Field House lobby must be emptied by the end of the school day on Friday, November 11. Everything must go, so if you have stuff in the bins, please stop by the Field House today!

The Forest/Holcombe advisory invites all advisories to participate in an advisory challenge beginning on Veterans Day and running through 12/1 to help collect items for care packages. Items include socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, travel sized wipes, stationary, lip balm, hand sanitizer, travel sized board games, and decks of cards and handmade greeting cards or letters. Please bring your donations to Streeter Hall Room 256. The winning advisory from each class will receive a box of treats to enjoy.

The following colleges have a visit today — University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and Champlain College. Please see Naviance for all details.

Attention International Students — The registration deadline for the Dec 10thTOEFL is November 17th. Any student needing to take the December 10th TOEFL should stop by the Guidance Office to register with Mrs. McCaffrey.

It’s not too late to make a dodgeball team! Remember teams need 6-8 players and the price is $2 per person. Also, don’t forget that the team with the best costume and team name will win baked goods, and the overall dodgeball champion will win a lunch made by Chef Hale. Show out STJ!

Happy Birthday today to Sundus Kussad, Maxine Sutton, Jayden Miller, and Evan Somers!
