A reminder to International Students — The registration deadline for the October 15th TOEFL is tomorrow. If interested, stop by the Guidance Office to register with Mrs. McCaffrey.

 

Life is full of beautiful moments. Perhaps there is no moment quite so beautiful as when 2 vague acquaintances become a couple for 10 minutes to save a dollar on dance tickets. That’s why admission to the “Welcome Back Dance” this Saturday night at 8pm in the amphitheater will cost $4 per individual and only $6 per couple. This Saturday. 8pm. Streeter Dining Hall. See you there!

 

Salvation Farms has dropped off 150 pounds of tomatoes and 100 pounds of potatoes. This afternoon at the South Church kitchen we will be processing and packaging tomato sauce and roasted potatoes. Come on down and help Chef Hale feed the people!

 

College Bound Hilltoppers — the following colleges have visits today: Regis College at 10am and Binghamton University at 2 pm. The following college has a visit tomorrow: University of New Hampshire at 2pm. Check out Naviance for more information. 

 

If you are interested in an Academy domestic or international trip but cannot afford such an experience, please remember to pick up an application today! The completed applications must be returned to Mr. Ehrean no later than September 30.

 

Don’t forget — the Outing Club is headed to Mt. Pisgah and Lake Willougby on Saturday! If you are interested, please get a permission slip from Student Life and plan on attending an information meeting right after Pep Chapel tomorrow in the Alumni Gym. Meditation Club meets today at 3:30 in Newell Hall 10. Come learn the basics of mindful breathing. Learn how to focus your attention in ways that make you relaxed and practically stress-free! 

 

Knitting club will be held this afternoon from 3:45-4:45 in Severance 16. We have all the supplies and expertise you need to start a new project or finish an old one.

 

Writer’s Block will not meet today.  We look forward to seeing you next Thursday for creativity, companionship, and cookies. Students interested in the Writer’s Block fall trip to scenic Copper Cannon Camp in New Hampshire should see Mrs. Mackenzie or Mrs. Jolliffe for permission slips.  Space is limited!

 

Calling all swimmers! The St. Johnsbury Swim Club is gearing up for another exciting year! The team is looking for experienced and competitive USA Swimmers and those who want to try it out. Find Coach Maura in the Field House or search for the St. Johnsbury Swim Club on Facebook for more information. Join us Monday at 6pm at the Academy Pool for our first in water practice!

 

The Asian cultural club meets today from 3:30- 4:30 in Ms. Davis’s room. We will be making lanterns as part of the traditions for the mid-autumn festival. If you have any questions, feel free to stop by Ms. Davis’s classroom or see Bella and Eric.

Varsity Field Hockey lost to Hartford, 3-0. 

 

In Boys Golf, Freshman Steven Werner carded a personal season’s best 44 to finish 3rd overall in the four-team match, while the team finished 3rd out of the 4 schools participating.

 

In Girls Golf, Charlotte Ng earned medalist for the second time this season on a tough Orleans Country Club course.

 

Boys Varsity Soccer defeated BFA Saint Albans 4-0 on Wednesday night. Gerardo Fernandez led the way with three goals and CJ Hunt had one goal. Jorge Trade, Aidan Brody, Zander Velliieux, and Nick Reed had assists and Fernando Gutierrez and Jonah Kalach combined for the shutout in goal. The JV team also beat BFA-St. Albans, 2-1. Ricardo Salinas and Kevin Zheng each scored for the win.

 

A reminder that tomorrow is a Green & White/SJA Gear Day. This means that you should be wearing green, white, or SJA Gear on top with Dress Code appropriate bottoms.
