Girls Cross Country competed at Saturday’s Burlington Invitational in St. Albans at the Hard’Ack Recreation Area. Varsity took 7th place overall, with Willa Mantius and Elsie Kidder setting personal bests. The JV team captured 5th place with Brooke Wells, Abilene Marcotte, and Bernadette Steele also setting personal bests!
Boys Cross Country also traveled to Hard’Ack Recreation Park for their first meet of the season. John Thornton Sherman led the way with an impressive 5th place finish, followed closely by Manny Fliegelman in 11th. Strong performances also came from Jonah Higgins Matte, Stone Thomas, Callum McGregor, and Adar Fainsilber.
Varsity Field Hockey lost their battle against Hartford on Saturday, but say incredibly strong plays from Ayla Brown, Aven Thomas, and Molly Remick!
Varsity Girls Soccer won their first home game against Colchester, 3-2, with goals from Lila Yerks, Avery Hansen, and Olive Annello with assists from Avery and Ellie Reed. JV Girls Soccer also beat Colchester, 2-0. True Layn had a complete game shutout in the net. Bijou St. Pierre and Maya Franson each scored a goal. On Tuesday, they improved their record to 3-0 against Essex with goals from Avery Hansen and Devlin Murphy!
JV Boys won their 2nd game in a row to open the season. Will Levesque scored a 3-goal hat trick. Luke Raser scored the other goal, his second of the season. Team never gave up and persevered at the end!
Congratulations to MaryJane Kissinger for her mountain biking success over the summer and recently in the Eastern State Cup. MJ is currently ranked 2nd in the overall standings for the pro female category!
Boys Golf is off to a great start of their season, winning their opener against Spaulding, and placing 2nd in their match at Jay Peak against South Burlington and Burlington. They also took 2nd on Tuesday night, competing against BFA-St. Albans and Missisquoi.
Girls Golf placed second in their seven-team match. Chia Tenaglia scored a 47 and MaKenzie Bean a 50 to lead the Hilltoppers.
