Good morning… It is National School Counselor Week! Your STJA school counselors are Mr. Murphy, Mrs. Reed, Ms. Anson, Mrs. McCaffrey, and Mr. O’Brien. The school counseling staff, like everyone in our school, is here to make a difference in your life. We want to help you dream big and reach your stars. As Dr. Seuss says, “You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So… get on your way!” Our door is always open, and we are ready to help you. Nothing is too big or small for us. Thank you for celebrating National School Counseling Week with us. Have a terrific and safe day!

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors—the following colleges will be hosting virtual visits today: Bishop’s University at 3pm; and Lincoln Technical Institute – East Windsor, CT at 3:30pm. Other upcoming virtual visits: 2/8—Sterling College-Craftsbury Common and 2/16—Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

Thursday Skins with the Outing Club will meet on Brantview Drive today at 3:15. You will need all required equipment and permission forms to get on the bus. See Mr. Bentley in Ranger 209 if you have any questions.

 

And now it’s time for Mr. Camelio’s Joke of the Week… Don’t you hate it when someone answers their own questions?…I do! 😊

 

The Hilltoppers traveled to Smuggler’s Notch for the first downhill ski race of the year in Vermont and raced slalom in snowy conditions. The girls team placed four in the top twenty in a field of 34 racers and were lead by Maggie Anderson’s 7th place finish, Keating Maurer followed in 8th, with Madigan Maurer coming in 16th, and Julia Chadderdon completed the team scoring with her 20th place finish.

 

The boys team placed 6 in the top 15 in a field of 40. Wyatt Knaus led the team and missed out on a third place finish by 1/100th of a second. Wyatt finished in 4th, David Kantor was 7th, Cody Van Dine came in 9th, and Forster Goodrich placed 11th to round out the team scoring. The class of 2024 was represented well with Cam Clark and Edwin Stephenson coming in 12th and 13th places.

 

The Hilltoppers race again on Monday when the team hosts a giant slalom race at Burke.
