Green Day

 

Student Government has a very important meeting after school today related to Winter Carnival. Please contact Brennan or Mr. Ryan with conflicts or questions.

 

Starting this Sunday, there will be a 3v3 basketball tournament every Sunday during the 3rd quarter. If you are interested, please see the flyers in the Field House for more details. Create and team or show up and join a team. There will be prizes for the overall winning team.

 

Writer’s Block will meet in Ranger 110 today at 3:30. Join us for writing and cookies. All are welcome!

 

Join the Outing Club as we travel to one of the biggest indoor climbing gyms in the state in Burlington this coming Sunday, January 26th. The bus will leave Brantview drive at 9am and return to campus by 4pm, no experience necessary. Sign up in Campus Life and see Mr. Holden for any details. Dare to explore.

Competition 4 of the New England Math League saw the highest team score of the year with 26 points out of 30. We had 5 students score a 5/6: Dillon Chen, Brody Quintin, Isaac Lenzini, Mo Lu, and Chenlin Shi. Jonah Raser was our top scorer with a perfect 6/6. Scores are posted in Severance and competition 5 will be held on February 11.

 

Congratulations to Varsity Wrestler Jackson Ladd who was named the Champion in his weight class. Junior Varsity wrestlers Ben Cain and Sophia Hartje also placed 3rd in their respective weight classes.

 

The Bowling team went to Randolph this past Saturday. In match play the Hilltopper bowlers beat White River Valley 2-0, then lost the final match to Randolph. Notable individual scores came in from Keagan Norrie with a 199, Conor Simonds with a 189, and Rory Nott with a 174. Go Topper Bowlers!!

 

Indoor Track hosted the Vermont State Throws meet on Saturday, January 18th. The top 12 ranked boys and girls from Division 1 and 2 came to St. Johnsbury to test their mettle in the shot put and weight throw. The boys accrued 14 points and the girls 8 points toward the overall team score, which will be added to the scores next Sunday at the state meet at UVM. Sophia Rizzo took 2nd and Jeremiah Watson took 3rd in the D1 weight throw and 3rd in the D1 shot put. Jeremiah also qualified for the New England Championship in Boston, MA. 

 

Andrew Thornton-Sherman also competed on Saturday at the prestigious Virginia Showcase in Virginia Beach.  Andrew placed 3rd in the Invitational section of the 1000 meters with a time of 2:24.97, which lowers his previous VT state record by 2.5 seconds and ranks him #3 in the USA this season. 

 

Varsity Girls Basketball beat Essex, 74-35, on Tuesday night, improving their season to 9-0. Cassidy Kittredge led the way with 18 pts, Anna Ebert with 14 and Adrianna Hever with 12. JV-A Girls also beat Essex, 40-23. Peyton LaPete high scorer with 14 dominating the paint with Ayla Brown scoring 9 points.

 

The JV-B Girls basketball team pulled off a total team effort win against Woodsville. Avery Rogers led the way with 13 points, while Valerie Daigneault chipped in 8. Mya Barney and Sawyer Willard played stellar defense in the post.
