White Day / SJA Gear Day

A reminder that tomorrow is Twin Day!

Junior Student Gov Reps — please meet Mr. Legge on the front steps of Fuller Hall immediately after Chapel for your yearbook photo.

Time to start showing the Winter Carnival 2022 Spirit! The Senior Class has already started as they have nominated 12 people to represent the school for the Winter Carnival Spirit Squad. On Wednesday, you will receive an e-mail ballot to vote for your top two choices among the following people who are known for their school spirit. They are… Clara Andre, Sam Begin, Jenny Li, Tim Tremblay, Ellie Rice, Patrick Keenan, McKenna Brochu, Kennedy Green Hawkins, Hannah Angell, Will Kimber, Mary Cook, and Will Miller.

Seniors — before you get all wrapped up with Winter Carnival festivities, don’t forget to fill out the Senior Superlative survey for the yearbook! The survey will close this Friday, so don’t miss out!

Don’t forget to stop by your favorite campus Café to grab some Valentines treats!  They have flowers, truffles, pretzel rods, chocolates, Reese’s hearts, and so much more! Cash or student account credit accepted.

A representative from the Governor’s Institute will be on campus today at 10am. The Governor’s institute is an intensive learning summer program hosted at college campuses all over the state for 9th to 11th graders. This year they are offering programs in art, astronomy, engineering, entrepreneurship, environmental science and technology, global issues and youth action, health and medicine, mathematical sciences, and technology and design. Be sure to sign up for the visit in the Guidance Office.  If you are scheduled to be in class during the time of the visit, please check in with your teacher before coming to the visit. You are also required to return to class after the completion of the visit, and attendance will be turned into the main office.

There will be a Bake Sale on Thursday in front of the library starting at 3:15 brought to you by your friends in Culinary Arts. Most items will be $1.00 and all sales are cash only so bring a few dollars and get fueled up for the Winter Carnival events.

Happy Monday Math Team! Today we will have 2 competitions, the ASMA and the New England Math League. All are welcome to join us at 3:30 in Fuller Basement!

Vulgar and barbaric, those words ring hollow as they seek to justify the end of your existence. This existence will endure in heart and mind throughout eternity, like gum one swallows or the skunk smell that one feels can be masked by dryer sheets. While schedules may claim you are gone, the Pancake Eating Contest lives on in lore, legend, the metaverse, and Tik Tok… What you just heard was an original poem that might be declaimed in this Thursday’s Winter Carnival Poetry Slam in the Library.

Hey, Seniors! What’s Axl Rose’s real name? How did Bono get his nickname? What inspired the Rolling Stones’ tongue logo? For the answer to these burning questions, come to S225 to work on the senior banner. Dance preparation will begin Tuesday in Fuller Basement. Let’s get excited, Team ’22!!

Greetings Class of 2023! Now is the time to put on a shine…on your boots that is! Because this winter carnival we’re going Country! Grab a friend and scoot on over to the Banner in Morse 202, and the dance practice in the Black Box. That’s right people we are just gettin’ started, so lets’ start it off right!  2023 Rocks!

Hey, Sophomores! How do hip-hop artists stay safe when traveling from country to country? They use Bubble wrap! As Vanilla Ice says “Collaborate and listen” class of 2024! Starting today, our class will become artists, too, and tackle the first Winter Carnival challenge of the week! Will the real “slim shadys” of the sophomore class please stand up and come to Severance 22 every day this week from 3:30-4:30 to create our Banner? As Lil Nas puts it, “this one is for the champions” and we want to score big points for our class, so we hope that the creative minds of our class will participate in decorating an outstanding “hip-hop” banner starting today at 3:30 in Severance 22. Keep in mind for later in the week, the dance off challenge is on! Dancers of all kinds- keep your ears open for more details during Chapel for our class song and be ready to get your groove on for practice in the Dining Hall Function Room Thursday after school and Friday morning at 8:15, and remember keep it real — like Snoop Doggs says “hip-hop is what makes the world go around.”

Attention Class of 2025: When Nirvana’s hit, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, first dropped in 1991, the music industry barely knew what hit it. After a decade in which popular music was dominated by synthesizers, big hair, and excessive production techniques, deliverance had finally arrived in the shape of three newcomers from Seattle determined to put the ROCK back in Rock n’ Roll. Like Nirvana, the Freshman class is ready to deliver its big hit with the 2025 Winter Carnival Banner. Banner meetings begin THIS afternoon in Colby 206. Bring yourself, a friend, and the fresh eyes needed to reimagine what a banner can be. No synthesizers required.

Happy Birthday today to Olivia George and Freddy Heineking!
