Green Day

Do you live in St. Johnsbury? Are you 18? Do plan to vote on Tuesday? Voting is the most basic and powerful form of civic engagement we can practice. It is how we make our voices heard, hold our elected representatives accountable, and help shape the future of our communities and our country. The Academy is here to help. On Tuesday, we will be providing a free ride to the polls. If you live in St. J and are 18, you can even register to vote on Election Day, be sure to sign out in the Main Office and head to Brantview Drive where an Academy van will bring you to the Welcome Center so you can vote. Teachers too can take advantage of this.

Calling all advisories…. please write letters of support or create holiday cards or ornaments to include in care packages for VT soldiers deployed over the holidays. All donations are due by 12/1 to Mrs. Holcombe in Streeter 251.

Scholars’ Bowl went to Hanover on Halloween for the annual Ghost tournament where they made their competition question their existence. The team went 8-0 in the preliminary round robin and then in the championship match against CVU they won 540-100. Congratulations to the team!

Congratulations to Audrey Roy, Katherine Sanoussy, Tanner Kittredge, Maddie Ross, and Emma Hakala for their Division I, Third Team – Metro All-State selection by the Vermont Volleyball Coaches Association. Well done! Please meet Mr. Legge outside in front of Fuller Hall for a photo after Chapel.

The Boys Cross Country team traveled to St. Albans to compete in the Vermont Meet of Champions, which brings together the top teams and individuals from all divisions of the Vermont State Championships. The boys delivered a dominant performance, winning the team title with an incredible average 5K time of 15:59! John Thornton Sherman led the way, winning the race, while setting both a new school record and course record! Joel Thornton Sherman followed with a 4th-place finish, Bryan Stocker placed 7th, and Juan Solona finished 8th. Nearly the entire team recorded personal-best times, capping off an outstanding day for the Hilltoppers!

The Girls Cross Country team earned a ninth-place team finish. Willa Mantius set the standard early in a varsity field featuring 131 finishers to secure 14th place overall. She also won 1st place in the 9th Grade Division. Stella Van der Linde finished in 29th place, and finished in 9th place in the 11th Grade Division.

Happy Birthday today to Andre Call, Camille LaRocque, Finn Lawson, and Ava Tucker.
