White Day

Today we welcome our friends from Spain, María, Carlota, Vicente, Unai, Uma, Marina, David, Iker, Irene, Iván, Mateo and Lucas, and their teachers Carmen and Paloma. We are delighted to have you here at St. Johnsbury Academy and hope you enjoy this adventure with us.

Mr. Rowe has two extra tickets to see “John Proctor is the Villain” this Tuesday. If any interest, see him in Morse 104. First come, first served.

The Girls Varsity Tennis Team will be holding informal hit-arounds on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis tennis courts, weather permitting. These sessions are a great opportunity for players interested in competitive tennis to get on the courts, work on their skills, and hit with members of our highly competitive varsity program. Come out, work on your game, and have some fun!

Can you spot the troll? Do you know what a troll is? Members of Mr. Eckhardt’s Contemporary Issues class have been studying Media Literacy, including misinformation and disinformation. As part of the class, they have created both ‘real’ and ‘troll’ social media accounts. They are posted on the first floor of Colby Hall. Can you tell the difference? Test your knowledge all this week.

If you frequent Ranger Breezeway, you may have seen the opening exhibit of the tiny art gallery that opened on campus last week. Tiny Art Gallery will strike again in October with two shows, the first in celebration of Indigenous People’s Day and the second in celebration of all things spooky. This is a call to all visual artists interested in our tiny project: create a tiny portrait, painting, watercolor, collage within one of these themes. A drop-box with instructions will launch Monday in Student Life. Submissions for the first theme are due Thursday, October 8. Submissions for the spooky theme are due Monday, October 19. You may also submit any questions to Tiny Art Gallery’s anonymous directors via this drop-box.

Girls Varsity Soccer beat Burlington, 1-0, with a goal in the last minute of regular time from Devlin Murphy, assisted by Aubrey Fontaine!

Girls Cross Country placed 14th at the Wood Trail Run on Saturday. Willa Mantius set the pace for the Hilltoppers to claim 18th place overall, and Stella Van der Linde finished 53rd. In the 2nd Seed race, Elsie Kidder broke into the top 20, finishing 19th, and in the 3rd Seed competition, freshman Abilene Marcotte paced the Hilltopper group, securing 25th place.

Happy Birthday today to Molly Aeberhard, Jace Grayson, Ajani Harry, Ashlyn Rivard and to our friend, Mateo Salmeron, who is visiting us from Spain as part of the exchange program!
