All 9th grade Health classes are to meet in Fuller Basement for class today.

 

Attention Sophomores and Juniors — an Admissions representative from Binghamton University in New York will be in the small Colby conference room this Wednesday at 10 am. If you would like to attend this meeting, please check with your B block teacher first before coming to the meeting. This is a great opportunity to learn more about this university.

 

If you are interested in the November trip to Peru, please come to Newell 12 tomorrow at 3:00 to talk with Mr. Brown and Mrs. Reed. We’ll have a sheet with info you can bring home about our plans for travel in Peru.

 

Starting Sunday, April 6th and every Sunday thereafter, until May 25th, from 2:00 to 3:30 we will have girls’ volleyball pick-up sessions in the Field House. These sessions are open to all returning volleyball players and anyone interested in trying out for volleyball this Fall and would like to get a jump start on what all the fun is about. Come ready to play, compete and mostly have fun! If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Gary.

 

At New Balance Nationals in Boston, the Academy 4×800 meter relay team of Emmett Johnson, Isaac Lenzini, James Hatch, and Andrew Thornton-Sherman, Smashed the Vermont State Record with a time of 7:52.82. Dropping 8 seconds! The Sprint Medley Relay team achieved the 2nd fastest time in Academy history (Indoor) 3:34.65 with Wilder Thomas, Koji Ebbett, James Hatch, and Emmett Johnson. Emmett Johnson raced to 4:22.8 for the Mile. Andrew Thornton-Sherman was 9th overall in the 800 meters out of 207 qualifiers 1:51.42.

 

3 athletes competed at Adidas Nationals last weekend in Virginia Beach. 2 made the podium in their divisions. Eihlis Murphy was 4th in the National Elite Division in the 800 meter with a time of 2:21.5. This time breaks the Indoor Track and Field Academy record which was set by Quinnae Outerbridge in 2015 2:22.79. Sydney Schoenbeck placed 3rd in the National Elite Division in the high jump. Sydney also competed in the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, and the long jump. Jeremiah Watson competed in the National Elite Division in the shot put 11.90 and the Championship division of the weight throw 15.25 meters.

 

Vermont students competed for state championship titles in the 38th Annual Vermont State Scholastic Chess Championships on Saturday. Michael “Misha” Chirkov got 3rd place in the high school division.
