White Day

 

Exams start tomorrow. Those taking the English, Humanities, or ESL exam should report to their locations no later than 8:50 am, and those taking the Science Exam should report to their locations no later than 12:35 pm.  Lunch will be served from 11:05 – 12:35 each day. Dress code for exams is Variety Day attire, but please remember that leggings and pajama pants are not allowed. Don’t forget to stop by Streeter to check out the CTE Showcase tomorrow, too!

 

A friendly reminder that semester 2 schedules are not released until the first day of the 2nd semester. If you are wondering what you signed up for, please stop by to see your guidance counselor.

 

Seniors, if you received an email from Mr. Legge last week it means you missed the deadline to include your senior photo in the yearbook. If you can submit a suitable photo by Friday, December 20th, it will be included in the yearbook. If not, it will be a past photo that appeared in the yearbook or a badge photo. Please contact Mr. Legge with any questions.

 

The Learning Center will be in the library during exams. Please stop in for any help you need. 

 

Join us for a delicious bake sale today after school in front of the library. We will have a variety of sweet treats available, and all proceeds will go towards supporting the She’s the First Club. Don’t miss out. Come and grab some tasty goodies all supporting a great cause.  See you there!

 

Today after school, the Outing Club will have its final climbing session of the semester. The bus will leave Brantview Drive at 3:15 and return by 6pm. See Ms. Greenlaw in Student Life or Mr. Holden to sign up. Dare to explore!

 

After being cancelled due to the rain day, Book Club is having our last meeting of the year to discuss the entirety of Tenth of December tomorrow, Tuesday, December 17. We will still meet from 5:30-7:00 in the library as scheduled. We hope to see you there!

 

The Gingerbread Houses made by the Intro to Baking students will be on display in the cafeteria on Monday and Tuesday. Please stop by to see what the students from Chef Hale and Chef B’s classes have created.

 

This rounds Bulletin Board winners are in! The Hilltopper was…Chef Hale. The answer for the brain teaser was… “No one to call.” For students, the winner of “Guess that Hilltopper” is Kerrick Medose. The winner of the Brain Teaser is Meara Garnes. For faculty and staff, no one guessed the brain teaser correctly. Mr. Dussault won “Guess that Hilltopper”. Please see Ms. Greenlaw for your prizes!

 

Congratulations to our top scorers on contest 3 of the New England Math League. Nico Borden scored 5 out of 6 and Isaac Lenzini scored 4 out of 6. The top scoring 9th grader was Alice Furstenberg with a score of 3 out of 6. Our team score was 18 and the top cumulative scorers through three contests are Mo Lu and Jonah Raser with 11 points each. Contest 4 will be held on January 21st.  We hope to see you there!

 

Congratulations to Emmett Johnson on being named the Caledonian Record Boys Cross Country Player of the Year.

 

The Bowling team went to Rutland this past weekend to compete in the Statewide Kick-Off Classic. The team won the whole thing, beating South Burlington, Essex, and Randolph in a match to secure the trophy for the Academy! This was a team victory, with key contributions from Junior Keagan Norrie, and Sophomores Conor Simonds, Rory Nott, and Evan Taylor.

 

St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers Boys Hockey Team opened the season with a 2 to 0 victory over Middlebury. Memphis Mastine scored both goals for the Hilltoppers, with assists by Kaiden Rogers and Evan Windrow. Nate Delman had 33 saves in his shutout performance.

 

The Hilltopper Boys Basketball team opened the season with a 71-36 home win vs. Brattleboro on Friday night. Eight players scored for the Hilltoppers. Rex Hauser had a game high 32 points, 9 rebounds, and five steals. Kerrick Medose had 12 points and 3 assists. The team would like to give a shoutout to the student section for their support and energy. The JV team also earned their first win on Friday night!

 

This past weekend at the VT throws meet, Sophia Rizzo won the weight throw with a personal best throw of 32 feet. On Saturday at UVM, the relay team of Brennan O’Farrell, Bryan Stocker, Charlie Kehler, and Tatum Steen won the 4×800, and Manny Fliegelman won the 1600. On the girls’ side, the relay team of Sydney Schoenbeck, Aven Thomas, Maggie Langlais, and Lola Ide won the 4×200, and Sydney went on to tie for first in the high jump.

 

Happy Birthday today to Eihlis Murphy from the Murphy family!
