The She’s the First Club has a few announcements for you all about Spring Day! We hope you are all excited about the yard sale that will be taking place from 8:30-10:30 on the lawn in front of Mayo. Doing some much-needed spring cleaning? Well, for this to be a successful fundraiser, we really need your help. Please drop off clean and sellable clothing up until Thursday by the end of the day in the Capstone Office in Colby. We really appreciate all donations and hope to see you all there! Venmo and cash are the only forms of payment we take.
Once you purchase some new styles at the yard sale, the She’s the First club will be running a dunk tank which will be located on the boy’s quad in front of the Green Dorm. Select teachers and students will be volunteering to be dunked. It is $5 for three throws and $2 for one throw. In addition, starting today in the dining hall, we will be hosting a penny war. There will be jars for a few faculty members and student volunteers where you can dump your spare pennies into the one you want to see dunked first on Spring Day! All silver coins and dollar bills are negative points. Thank you all and hope to see you there!
On Thursday, May 9th the Culinary Arts and Baking students all had a part in preparing the annual Gala dinner event at the Athenaeum. This event is a fundraiser for the Athenaeum and needs many people to make it all happen. Chef Andre, Mrs. Libbey, and Chef B. would like to express a big thank you to Justice Drayton-Paynter, Tyler Gagnon, Emily Greer, Howell Hsu, Warren Kingsbury, Maceo Kramar, Bella Mazza, Keagan Norrie, Lucas Wagner, and Dominic Warren. These students volunteered their time after school to prepare and serve the dinner, working extremely hard making this a huge success!
Congratulations to Justin and Hayley Bieber who are expecting their first child! Speaking of other great expectations, Spring Day is just a few days away so make sure to save some money for the Yard Sale and snack sales. And for those doing trivia, Great Expectations was written by Charles Dickens.
Heads Up for Friday — You may hear some teachers taunting people near the Dunk Tank, you may see a cookie that is decorated to look like the Mona Lisa, you may see what it looks like to lose a tricycle race or a slow bike race. Do not worry this is just a normal Spring Day!
Congratulations to Hayden Stephenson and Stas Kadolonok, who will receive special recognition at the Vermont Young Playwrights’ Festival on May 21. Hayden’s one act play, “Ultimate Frisbee”, will be performed by professional actors at a public performance. Stas’s play ” A Curious Passenger” will receive a cold reading by professional actors. These plays and others written by members of the creative writing class will be performed here on campus by the Advanced Theater class directed by Mr. Walker during the Theater Showcase on Tuesday, May 28 at 3:30. Congratulations! Hayden and Stas — please plan to meet Mr. Legge on the front steps of Fuller immediately after Chapel for a photo!
