Helping Hands Community Network
St. Johnsbury Academy Helping Hands Community Network is dedicated to serving the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Our work is focused on supporting those who cannot complete home improvement or other tasks. Entirely volunteer-driven, Helping Hands looks to blend the time and talent of adult volunteers with opportunities for St. Johnsbury Academy students to make a meaningful impact on their community.
PROJECTS
Alongside our adult volunteers, SJA students can complete a number of projects, including, but not limited to, stacking firewood, yard maintenance, painting, electrical projects, auto repair, and small construction projects. Other projects are considered at the discretion of the Helping Hands Community Board, which provides oversight for the program.
GUIDELINES
The Community Board reviews project requests once per semester. There are limited openings each semester for projects; the board prioritizes projects that align with St. Johnsbury Academy students’ skills and the mission of St. Johnsbury Academy, specifically a dedication to character, inquiry, and community.
APPLICATION PROCESS
We ask that community members limit their applications to one per cycle. If your request is not granted, you may resubmit in the next application cycle. All applications will receive a response from the Community Board. The application can be found here.
