I am from a nearby town in New Hampshire which is only about 45 minutes away from the Academy. This allows me to have the unique experience of being a boarding student though I still have the opportunity to go home on some weekends.
My brothers both graduated from St. Johnsbury, so I have known since I was in fifth grade where I wanted to go to high school. I loved the idea of being a legacy, but I was always afraid of not being able to make a name for myself. But as soon as I arrived, the people here were genuinely interested in learning about who I was as a student, an athlete, and a person, despite my family background.
Being at the Academy has taught me so many valuable lessons that I never thought I could experience, including the ways in which I have been able to develop my own identity. I have always felt the unconditional encouragement, love, and guidance from my teachers, coaches, and proctors and I can attribute much of my success to these wonderful people.
The boarding program at this school is only one of the things that makes it so special, and I can honestly say that I would not be the person I am today if it weren’t for St. Johnsbury Academy.
