A Talk by Dr. Evren Balta

Dr. Evren Balta is a visiting scholar in the Weatherhead
Scholars Program at Harvard and her talk will be based on
her book The American Passport in Turkey. This talk explores
how different forms of citizenship—birthright, investment,
and global mobility—shape the meaning of national
belonging and how it is changing. The book won an award as
Global and Transnational Sociology Section’s Best Book by an
International Scholar Award. Dr. Balta is a professor at
Özyeğin University in Turkey.
