A reminder that tomorrow is Anything But A Backpack day! 

 

Chef Hale’s A-block study hall and Mr. Guckin’s A-block Capstone class need to enter South Church through the front doors following chapel this morning.

 

Juniors and Seniors, Assumption University, Merrimack College, and Brandeis University are on campus today for a visit. Please see Naviance or Mrs. LaBounty for details and to register. Be sure to check in with your teacher before attending.

 

Juniors and seniors who are interested in international affairs and culture are reminded to get applications for the Colwell Scholars program from Mr. Ehrean. The deadline is October 25th.

 

This is a reminder that the Japan Trip applications are due today. If your application is delayed, please see or contact Mr. Ehrean. 

 

Thursday was World Mental Health Awareness Day! We all have mental health, and it is a universal human right. One in five teens in the United States will experience a mental-health challenge by the time they are 18 and yet 64% of teens who experience mental health challenges don’t seek help. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness and decrease stigma surrounding conversations about mental health and remind people to engage and connect. Varsity Field Hockey came out with a strong win on Wednesday vs. Stowe. Goals were scored by Molly Kimber and Molly Remick with assists by Meredith Roy and Aven Thomas. Emmy Morgan recorded a defensive save and Samara Rutledge recorded 4 big saves in goal.

 

JV Field Hockey finished their season out strong on Monday, with a tie against U-32 for the second time, due to a strong defense and a solo goal scored by Brooklyn Gingue. 

 

Boys Varsity Soccer lost to Burr and Burton, 3-1, yesterday. Luc Oliver scored for the Hilltoppers.

 

Girls Cross Country won the Peoples Invitation on Wednesday.  The top finishers were 5th Rylee Strohm in 5th place, Stella van der Linde in 8th, and Ruth Krebs in 9th.  The Boys Cross Country team beat 2nd place Stowe, 65 to 35, to win the meet. The boys had 5 top-10 finishers, including Ari Leven, Micah McDonald, Manny Fliegelman, Brennan O’Farrell and John Thorton-Sherman.

 

Girls varsity soccer tied South Burlington 1-1, on Wednesday. The lone goal ws scored by Eihlis Murphy, with an assist from Ellie Reed. Jayden Bunnell had 9 saves in the net. The JV team won, 2-1, against South Burlington. Aubrey Fontaine scored both goals, and Vivi Huntington had an assist.

 

Hilltopper mountain biking competed in its final race of the season on Saturday at Cochran’s Ski Area. Among 12 clubs and 250 racers, The Hilltoppers won the race with a combined score of 1981 points, upsetting league champion Woodstock by just 5 points. In the advanced category A, Tillie Lang finished fourth. In Category B, Kathryn Zajko finished 5th, Effie Dunn 3rd, and Addie Pearl won her third race of the season.
