Class of 2023, please keep in mind your deadline of February 9th to sign up for the School Day SAT happening on April 13. Stop by the Guidance Office with any questions!

Calling all dancers! “Pom Dance” club will be starting up this Thursday! It will be a jazz dance base that uses elements of cheer dance. No experience required at all, just be ready to get moving and grooving! Stop by Campus Life to sign up and stop by the Guidance Office to see Ms. Carr with any questions!

 

Applications for the Governors Institute of Vermont are open for all Freshmen through juniors from Vermont! The Governor’s institute is an intensive learning summer program hosted at college campuses all over the state. This year they are offering programs in art, astronomy, engineering, entrepreneurship, environmental science and technology, global issues and youth action, health and medicine, mathematical sciences, and technology and design. For more information you can check out their website at giv.org or stop by the Guidance Office. The application deadline is April 3.

 

The Youth In Power Program at Umbrella is a work, education, and leadership program designed to guide and support female-identifying, gender fluid, or non-binary youth of the Northeast Kingdom to embrace their power. We aim to provide opportunities that increase financial independence, experience in healthy workplace environments, and leadership qualities to become peer educators in healthy relationships and prevention. This program is also intended to build community among youth and adults, as well as build self-confidence and self-reliance for all participants. This is done through mentorship and community outreach/engagement initiatives that vary based on program cycle and youth identified priorities. If you are interested in joining this powerful group, stop by the Nurses’ Office and see Ms. Garey to sign up!

January is an excellent time to start thinking about flowers. Come help the garden club pick out varieties to grow for our spring plant sale and projects around campus. St. Johnsbury Academy welcomes you to the inaugural Varsity Cornhole practice Wednesday at 3:30 in the Black Box Theater. This growing sport is open to everyone and is the perfect socially-distanced activity. We are looking to create a team and take home the first of many Vermont High School Cornhole Championships. Come and join in the fun. 3:30 in the Black Box!

 

Although it is very clearly still winter, our fashion design classes are already getting ready for the spring fashion show! Are you interested in being a model? We are looking for students of all sizes and gender identities to work closely with our designers to showcase one of a kind, custom garments and accessories. What would this commitment look like? Come to the Fashion Studio, Morse 201, today or tomorrow after school to find out more and fill out an application.

 

Tech Storm, SJA’s Robotics Club, will be meeting today in Streeter 230 starting at 3:45. Feel free to stop by to see the robot and learn how to build another.

 

Yes! By popular demand, the Bowling Club is back for the second semester. The bus will leave Brantview Drive after conference period and we will return to campus around 5 pm. The price is $4.00 per game which includes fashionable bowling shoes. Masks are still mandatory on the bus and at the lanes. I hope to see you there! And now…the first joke of the new semester…Question: What do you call a Far Eastern monk who sells reincarnations? Answer: A used karma dealer.
