Tomorrow is Capstone Day/Sophomore Stewardship Day/9th Grade Challenge Day.  Chapel will begin at 8:30am.

 

Seniors — graduation tickets are here! If you have paid your Senior Graduation fee of $50.00, please stop by the Headmaster’s Office to grab your tickets. For those who still need to pay, you have until May 31st!

 

For those hoping to get on the ballot for the May 19th Student Government Rep Election, please see Mr. Ryan or your Class Dean today to pick up a petition.

 

Attention Sophomores — Sophomore Stewardship Day is 24 hours from now! Three things to remember: First: Meet in the Senior section for the gym tomorrow morning before 8:30 for Chapel. Second: Be sure to get your Sophomore Stewardship Day Permission Slip into your advisor today. You must turn in this permission slip in order to participate on Friday. If you need a permission slip, you can get one from Mr. Bentley, Mr. Dussault, or Ms. Lang in the Student Life Office. Third: Check your email OR the 2025 Canvas Page for information about how to dress on Sophomore Stewardship Day.  Thanks for you for your attention to these things! 

 

Seniors — be sure to fill out the Senior Survey sent to you by Ms. Carr. Every senior must fill this out as it is used for sending final transcripts and data collection. This information is not released or announced. Stop by Guidance if you need help!

 

A reminder to those applying for the Streeter-Trafton Award, please be sure to submit all materials to the Straszko Office by the end of the day tomorrow, May 5th. Pop into Guidance with any questions.

 

Attention — those interested in attending the London/Paris trip next year, please pick up your application packet ASAP from Mrs. Murphy (Streeter 208) or Mrs. Kendall (Streeter 223). They are due by May 17th!

 

The Dance Department Spring Dance Open House will take place Sunday, May 7th at 7pm in the Morse Black Box. All students, faculty, staff, families, and friends are invited to join the dancers in celebrating the end of the term. There is no charge.

 

Writers’ Block will meet in Ranger 110 at 3:30 today for writing time, tea, and cookies.  All are welcome!

 

Boys volleyball club is back at SJA! Starting this Friday 3:45-5:00 we will be starting to practice and build a team for next fall season. Talk to or email Mr. Cushman with any questions.

 

May is National Pet Month which aims to promote the dual benefits of pets for people and people for pets. The library features an interactive display with books about pets and animal companionship. To celebrate Academy community pets, please bring in pictures of your furry friends to display on the photo mural. This month, the library will also spotlight book displays on Jewish American Heritage Month; Military Appreciation Month; Teacher Appreciation Week; and National Skilled Trades Day.

For the first time since 2020, students in the Latin program participated in the National Latin Exam, a contest that assesses knowledge of Latin and of Roman culture. All students did well in this competition, but special commendation goes to the following students for their prize-winning papers. Seven students in the Latin I class earned prizes on the Introduction to Latin exam.  Of these, Mylo Robertson earned a Cum Laude, Lennon Daffinrud, Macy Moore, and Ava Purdy earned a Magna Cum Laude, and Alan Kennison-Prue, Sophia Montague, and Bryn Waring earned a Maxima Cum Laude and silver medal. On the Intermediate Latin Reading Comprehension exam, Alia Davis earned a Magna Cum Laude and Brooke White earned a Summa Cum Laude and gold medal. Mrs. Callanan is proud of these students and all who took the exam this past March!  Prize winners please report to C309 immediately after Chapel today to receive your awards and to have your photo taken.

 

Boys Tennis beat South Burlington, 7-0.

 

With wins in by Fernanda Bustamante in Discus, Peyton Qualter in Triple Jump, Rylee Strohm in the 300 Hurdles and Brooke White in the 200 the girls Track and Field team placed 3rd in the 5 team meet at CVU. The boys overcame the rain to win the meet as Jaden Beardsley won the 100 and 200, Carson Eames the 1500, Andrew Thornton-Sherman the 300 hurdles, Quinn Murphy the Discus, Cian Nott the Triple Jump and Diego Perez the Shot Put.
