White Day

Happy Monday, SJA!  Starting today you can use the electric hand dryers in the bathrooms! These high-efficiency dryers are powered with carbon-free and renewable electricity provided by Green Mountain Power. Paper towels use up landfill space and make more work for our facilities staff, but will still be available for those who prefer them.

The Rotary Speech contest will be held after school today in the South Church starting at 3:30. Spectators are welcome!

Channel your inner spider monkey and come join the Outing Club this Wednesday as we go to North Country Climbing Center! The bus will leave Brantview Drive at 3:35 and return by 5:30. Sign up in Campus Life and see Mr. Holden or Mr. Weiss for details.

Spring is on its way, which means it’s time to start seeds. The Garden Club will be meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, to plant tomatoes, peppers, and herbs. Please join us in Streeter 237.

The Math team will not be meeting today. We will meet tomorrow in Fuller Basement for the Vermont High School Prize Examination in Mathematics, also known as, the UVM contest. Cash prizes are awarded for the top 8 scores in the state as well as regional prizes! See you tomorrow for the UVM Contest.

Sixteen enter! Only one can be the winner! Yes, it’s March Madness, for books! The brackets are up, SJA’s 16 most popular books or series for this year have entered the court, and your votes decide which will be crowned the winner. How does it work? In the coming 4 days, choose your favorite books from the 16 contestants and also vote for which book will ultimately win March Madness. Vote in person at the library (and take a look at the books to get a better idea) or vote via email using the library’s bracket form. If you haven’t read a particular book, it’s OK to choose based on which sounds more interesting. If you’ve already received the online bracket form, then vote! If you want to receive the form, send a request to library@stjlabs.com. Books advance every Thursday and new voting begins every Friday. The winning book will be declared the last day of March. If you correctly chose the winning book, you will win something silly, plus be entered into a drawing for a bigger, but probably equally silly, prize. You must cast your vote for the winning book before next Thursday to be eligible. It’s madness!

Happy Birthday today to Waylon Gates, Finn LaGoy, and Normand Vance!
