Michael Wright ’94

Michael Wright of CALEX
July 7, 2020

Michael Wright ’94 is the Chief/CEO of CALEX Ambulance in St. Johnsbury. The provision of emergency services is crucial to our community, especially during a pandemic. Michael and his team have jumped in to not only provide their usual services, but to support other aspects of the COVID-19 response.

Michael has had a 27 year career with CALEX and during that time, he has never experienced anything like the pandemic. He shared:

This year has certainly been far from normal. All our crews have stepped up and committed to assuring that we are all trained and prepared to help in any way needed for our communities during this pandemic. Whether it is answering the 911 call, providing emergent or non-emergent transport to another hospital, assisting with Vermont Department of Health COVID-19 pop-up testing sites or traveling to a private residence to test someone who does not have transportation, our crew has met that need. Working with several hospitals in both VT & NH, our staff has quickly adapted to the changes, which in many cases changed weekly and sometimes daily, to assure we met the expectations and followed each facilities set policies. We hope everyone appreciates all the efforts our health care providers have done for their communities.

Michael is extremely grateful for his team of 27 employees, which includes 17 full time employees. Four of his team members are SJA Alumni, Kelly Kittredge Mims ’97, Thomas Reed ’81, Brent Sargent ’11, and Debra Aldrich St. George ’82.

Thank you to Michael and his entire team for their commitment to our communities and for working hard every day to provide these essential services. If you know or see an EMS provider, please be sure to take a minute and thank them for being here for all of us!
