The students of Harvard Model Congress are delighted to report that Thursday will be a Variety Day! Your donation will go directly to the trip expenses for these 8 amazing students who are participating in the Boston Conference. Make sure you dress your best and bring $1!

 

The first event of Winter Carnival each year is the Democracy in Action Event. In order to take part in this, please check your STJlabs accounts to find your ballot to choose the Winter Carnival theme among five finalists. They are: Biomes  — this  theme covers such things as the tundra, forests, and grasslands; Board Games — this theme covers board games and their classic characters from games like Candy Land, Clue, and Monopoly; Music Genres — this covers  genres ranging from rap to country to boy bands; Sitcoms — this theme covers all the favorites such as Friends, The Office, and The Big Bang Theory; and finally — Fast Food Chains — this covers the various chains and their classic mascots such as Colonel Sanders and Ronald McDonald.  So, remember tomorrow to join Democracy in Action by casting your vote!

 

Attention International Students — The registration for the March 12th TOEFL is now open. Any student wanting to take the March 12th TOEFL — must register by February 16. Email Mrs. McCaffrey at mmccaffrey@stjlabs.com or stop by the Guidance Office to register and with any questions. 

 

Tech Storm, SJA’s Robotics Club, will be meeting today in Streeter 230 starting at 3:45.  Feel free to stop by to see the robot and learn how to build another.

 

Cupcakes and valentines — who doesn’t love them? Now you have an opportunity to win valentine-themed cupcakes for your advisory while brightening the spirits of our local community members. SCOPE is teaming up with the NEK Council on Aging, and we need your help! This week, Hilltopper advisories are encouraged to use chapel and advisory time to make valentines that will be distributed to local retirement and nursing homes. The advisory that creates the most cards by Friday will win Valentine’s Day-themed cupcakes, courtesy of Chef B!

 

Are you a student who expresses gender-nonconformity? Have you ever been interested in modeling for a photoshoot? Help Olivia George’s capstone and model for photos that express gender non-conformity. There are fliers around campus with Olivia’s contact information or email Olivia at: Olivia.George@stjlabs.com and let her know that you are interested in participating. There are no restrictions or requirements and every student is welcome.

 

Are you grumpy because of the cold weather? Is that what’s troubling you. Well come bowling with us today and get rid of the winter blahs. Bus leaves Brantview Drive at 3:45 and returns at 5 pm.

JV Girls Basketball lost to Burlington, 36-24, however, the Varsity Girls Basketball team beat Burlington, 54-41.

 

Congratulations to Evan Thornton-Sherman, named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Cross Country. The Gatorade award is recognized as the highest individual award given in each of ten sports. Evan is the Academy’s fourth individual named player of the year for Cross Country.  Congratulations, Evan!
