White Day

Seniors — please check your STJ Labs account for a link to vote for your class superlatives in the yearbook. The closing date is next Friday, February 18.

All students who have registered to compete in the Rotary Speech Contest need to meet with Mr. Lovett in the Colby Conference Room Thursday after school to receive further information and select a competition date. If you cannot attend, please notify Mrs. Legendre in the Headmaster’s Office.

Has this cold February weather gotten you down? Warm up with some acts of kindness! Spread the love by sending Hershey kisses and sweet notes to your friends. The Junior class will be selling candygrams in the dining hall during C-block today through Thursday! The cost is $1, and the candy, with your hand-written note, will be delivered through advisors the day after your purchase.

In preparation of all the fun that you will have at winter carnival, this Friday there will be an outdoor broom ball tournament on Stowe Green starting at 1pm! You must sign up your team of six in Campus Life in order to participate. The entry fee is $10.00 and proceeds will benefit the Norris Cotton Cancer Center!

Tech Storm, SJA’s Robotics Club, will be meeting today in Streeter 230 starting at 3:45. Feel free to stop by to see the robot and learn how to build another.

The University of Maine will be hosting an Engineering Summer Program for juniors. This is a free program for juniors who excel at math and science and that want to learn about engineering. There will be three sessions offered with each session consisting of three days. Stop by the Guidance Office for information on how to apply.

Sophomores and Juniors – tomorrow is February 9th! That means tomorrow is the deadline to sign up for the School Day SATs and PSATs!  Don’t forget to sign up and stop by the Guidance Office with any questions.

Science Olympians: We had a great tournament Saturday! And now is the time to bring it all together for the Vermont State Tournament on Saturday April 2nd. As a reminder, meetings are every Wednesday and Thursday in Streeter 241 and adjoining rooms. We will be expanding to include Tuesday starting next week and a weekend afternoon after break. Contact Mr. Eckel if you want to join the team as winter sports come to a close over the next several weeks.

SCOPE wants to thank all of the advisories who participated in the Valentine’s Day project. The valentines have all been collected and delivered to the NEK Council on Aging. Special honorable mention goes to Mrs. McGarvin’s and Mrs. Gould’s advisories, who not only made a LOT of valentines, but they were all super colorful and beautiful as well. Congratulations to the Forest/Holcombe advisory — they made 275 valentines for our senior community members and will enjoy Valentine’s cupcakes this Friday courtesy of Chef B! Thanks to so many of you who took the time to reach out to people just because you care. Love is what it’s all about!

If you think Gucci and Lulu Lemon are high fashion, then you have never designed your own trendy pantsuit from cardboard boxes and yogurt cups. The problem is that we live in a world where showing that suit is considered an epic fashion don’t and will most likely result in a report to the Fashion Police. Don’t give up your passion for recycled material fashion, and instead show up to the Recycling Olympics after school next Thursday in the Amphitheatre. Change is inevitable in life. Hopefully that is comforting in a world in which we are experiencing the loss of the pancake eating contest. What used to be some good old-fashioned gluttony in front of 500 people is no longer what is cool, classy, and non-barbaric. Also, don’t forget to come to Dodge Ball and Floor Hockey next Friday morning as part of the Winter Carnival fun!

SCOPE will be meeting after school today at 3:30 in Ranger 212. See you there!

Yes, it’s perfect weather for the Bowling Club to meet today after school. New bowlers are always welcome. The bus leaves Brantview Drive at 3:45 and returns at 5 pm.

Joke of the Week: After last week’s joke, someone stole my thesaurus. I can’t find the words to describe how angry I am.

Happy Birthday today to Sisu Lange, Stella Liang, and Gabe Matysiak!

JV/VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL @ BURLINGTON 5:00/6:30, please dismiss the teams at 1:45
