Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) fall 2024 Program

 

 

Are you interested in becoming an LNA?

 

Our program will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge you need to excel as an LNA. Our experienced instructors will provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment as they guide you through a comprehensive curriculum that covers fundamental healthcare principles, patient care and ethical considerations essential to the role of LNAs. 

 

You’ll gain hands-on clinical experiences that simulate real-world health care settings, where you’ll be able to apply your knowledge in a practical context. Whether this is an introduction to a career in healthcare or a chance for you to expand on your current skills, our program can meet your needs as a diverse learner.  

 

 

Mandatory Orientation: Thursday, September 26th at 4pm

 

Classroom Location: St. Johnsbury Academy Adult Education
24 Eastern Avenue, St. Johnsbury, Vermont

Classroom Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays | October 1st – November 23rd

Classroom Time: 4:00PM–8:00PM

Classroom Hours Total: 64

 

Skills Lab and Clinical Location: VTSU Lyndon Campus

Skills Lab and Clinical Classroom Dates: Saturdays | October 1st – November 23rd

Skills Lab Time: 8:00AM–2:00PM

Clinical Hours: 16 

Skills Lab & Clinical Hours Total: 48

 

 

Tuition: $2200

Tuition support may be available through federal, state, or local resources. 

 

 

Tuition Includes:

  • Hartman Nursing Assistant Workbook

  • Hartman Nursing Assistant Textbook that will be returned to SJA Adult Ed on the last day of class

  • LNA Entrance Examination

 

Tuition Does Not Include:

  • Uniform

  • Watch with a second hand

  • Background check fees

  • State Licensing Fees

 

 

To hold a seat in the class, we are asking for a $200 registration fee that will go towards the total tuition cost. The $200 is a filing fee and is not refundable. You are not enrolled in the class until you pay the tuition in full. Tuition must be paid by the first class meeting. 

 

 

 

When you complete our program, you will be ready to take the state licensure exam from Excel testing and embark on a rewarding career as a compassionate and competent LNA in our community.

Information regarding this background check will be explained in the informational interview once you register for this course.

 

TABE Testing Information:

In order to ensure success we would like students to take the TABE assessment given by NEKLS. You can schedule this testing by calling St. Johnsbury NEKLS Office at 802-748-5624. If you have trouble reaching NEKLS please email the SJA Adult Ed Admin, Amanda Frattaroli and amanda.frattaroli@stjacademy.org.

Instructors:

 

Phyllis Mitchell, Classroom Instructor and LNA Program Administrator

Phyllis Mitchell has more than forty years of progressive nursing experience. Her extensive background includes being the executive director of the State of Vermont Board of Nursing and the Site Director for the Northeast Kingdom Vermont Technical College Nursing Education Program at Lyndon. She has a Masters of Science in Nursing Education and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. 

 

Carol Hodges, Skills Lab and Clinical Instructor

Carol Hodges is a highly skilled career professional with more than twenty years of practical experience in hospital, home health, primary care and academia. She serves as the hospital nurse supervisor at NVRH and has been teaching skills and clinical nursing for over 20 years. She has a Bachelors and a Masters of Science in Nursing.
