Chief Academic Officer, BASIS Charter Schools
Julia Toews has a B.A. in English from Reed College and an M.A. in English from Johns Hopkins University. She has worked in secondary education for 20 years in both private schools and public charter schools. Prior to that, she taught undergraduate students for five years. In her time working in secondary education, she has been an English teacher, a college counselor, a school director, and a Head of School. In her current position of Chief Academic Officer, she manages curriculum for BASIS Charter Schools, a nationally acclaimed network of public charter schools serving approximately 20,000 students in grades K-12.
