Gerardo Munoz

Social Studies Teacher, Denver Center for International Studies

2021 Colorado Teacher of the Year Gerardo A. Muñoz is a 22-year veteran Social Studies Teacher at the Denver Center for International Studies at Baker in the Denver Public Schools. He has taught every grade from 6-12, and currently teaches AP World History, Concurrent Enrollment Ethnic Studies, and Student Voice and Leadership. In the past, he has taught other Ethnic Studies courses, Hip Hop Studies, and Economics. He holds a degree in History and Latin American Studies from the University of Colorado, a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver, and hopes to begin working on a Ph.D in fall of 2021. He is thee executive producer and co-host of the education podcast Too Dope Teachers and a Mic.
