Lifeguards at the Kiwanis Pool in St. J

Lifeguards at Kiwanis Pool
July 22, 2020

Callahan Beck ’19, Beckett Jewell ’22, Ally Morrison ‘19, Christian Tomaselli ’17 (LI), Ryan Weber ’12, Rory Young ’19, and Tommy Zschau ’21 are the lifeguards at the Kiwanis Pool in St. Johnsbury, which opened this week.

Sandy Churchill Lazerick ’77, the Aquatics Director at the Kiwanis Pool, recommended they be recognized. She shared that their enthusiasm and willingness to fill this role means the pool can open safely.  They are putting themselves in close contact with the public to  make it possible for our community to enjoy a traditional summer activity. The lifeguards have been trained on all the new guidelines and the pool is taking many steps to keep everyone safe.

The pool is operated by the St. Johnsbury Kiwanis Club and admission is free. It has been a part of the community for 76 years thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Club members and staff, as well as the support of the local community and Kiwanis International. While not able to happen this year due to the pandemic, they typically serve around 600 area children with free Red Cross swim lessons annually.

To learn more about the opening and how to access the pool, check out this article by the Caledonian Record here. You can also call (802) 748-5031 on weekday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon for more information.

Thank you to Callahan, Beckett, Ally, Christian, Ryan, Rory and Tommy for doing this important job. We hope the sun shines on you for a great season!
