Girls 2nd Place finish out of four teams, Boys 2nd Place finish out of 5 teams
The Hilltoppers traveled to Smuggler’s Notch for the first downhill ski race of the year in Vermont and raced slalom in snowy conditions. The girls team placed four in the top twenty in a field of 34 racers and were lead by Maggie Anderson’s 7th place finish, Keating Maurer followed in 8th, with Madigan Maurer coming in 16th, and Julia Chadderdon completed the team scoring with her 20th place finish.
The boys team placed 6 in the top 15 in a field of 40. Wyatt Knaus lead the team and missed out on a third place finish by 1/100th of a second. Wyatt finished in 4th, David Kantor was 7th, Cody Van Dine came in 9th, and Forster Goodrich placed 11th to round out the team scoring. The class of 2024 was represented well with Cam Clark and Edwin Stephenson coming in 12th and 13th places.
The Hilltoppers race again on Monday when the team hosts a giant slalom race at Burke.

Monday February 8VIEW HIGHLIGHT
Your Hilltoppers hosted a race for five other NVAC teams at Burke yesterday. Both teams had good results.
The girls team finished in 3rd out of 6 teams, just 5 points outside of second place. Maggie Anderson led the way for the girls team with her 3rd place finish, she was followed by Keating Maurer’s 7th place result. Ruby Rolfe finished in 13th and the team scoring was rounded out by Madigan Maurer.
The boys team finished first out of five team and were paced by Thomas Zschau’s 3rd place. The Hilltoppers placed four in the top 10 – with Cody Van Dine in 5th, Cam Clark in 6th, and Wyatt Knaus in 7th. Forster Goodrich and Edwin Stephenson also finished in the top 20 in 13th and 19th places. Many skiers raced for the first time and are eager for our next race. A huge thanks to all on the team for their help in hosting a safe and successful race. Go Hilltoppers!

Friday February 12VIEW HIGHLIGHT
The Alpine ski team traveled to Cochran’s ski area for a chilly slalom.
The girls team placed 2nd out of 5 teams. Maggie Anderson lead the team with her 4th place finish, she was followed by Keating Maurer in 5th, Madigan Maurer finished in 14th place and Julia Chadderdon rounded out the team scoring with her 18th place finish.
The boys team, depaite placing 4 in the top 12 and 6 in the top 20, placed 2nd out of 5 teams. Wyatt Knaus was first for the team with his 8th place finish, David Kantor was just behind him in 9th, and Forster Goodrich was right after him in 10th place. Cody Van Dine completed the team scoring with his 12th place finish.

Monday February 22VIEW HIGHLIGHT
The Hilltoppers traveled to Mad River Glen for a slalom race on the 22nd and has good results. The Boys team was 2nd out of 6, the Girls team was 4th out of 6, and the combined team scores put the Hilltoppers in 2nd place out of 6 teams.
The Girls were lead by Maggie Anderson’s 4th place finish, while Keating Maurer was just behind her in 6th place. Madigan Maurer and Julia Chadderdon completed the scoring.
On the Boys side, Wyatt Knaus continued his great season with a 5th place and was followed by Cameron Clark in 6th, Cody Van Dine in 7th, and Edwin Stephenson rounded out the team scoring with his 11th place finish. Elias Tussie and Ivan Garza also completed their first slalom race with good results.

Thursday February 25VIEW HIGHLIGHT
The Hilltoppers traveled to Cochran’s Ski Area for the final regular season race of the short season.
The boys showed they are ready to defend their NVAC title by placing first of the nine boys teams. The boys skied well in the first run, but their second run sealed the team victory. In a very competitive field, Tommy Zschau won the race. Cody Van Dine continued his great season with a 2nd place finish. Wyatt Knaus and Forster Goodrich also placed in the top 10, finishing 6th and 8th respectively. It was a great result on a challenging hill.
The girls placed 4th in a field of 7 teams and were lead by Keating Maurer’s 6th place finiish, Maggie Anderson finished in 10th, Madigan Maurer came in 21st and Julia Chadderdon rounded out the team scoring to secure the good results for the team.

Thursday March 4VIEW HIGHLIGHT
The Hilltoppers opened the post-season in good form at Burke on Thursday. The boys team finished in second place, just three points away from first place and the girls team finished in 4th place.
The Boys team placed three in the top ten. Tommy Zschau led the boys with his second place finish (out of 56 racers) and was followed by Cam Clark in 6th, and Cody Van Dine in 7th. Forster Goodrich rounded out the teams’ scoring.
Maggie Anderson led the girls with her 3rd place result, Keating Maurer came in in 11th place and Madigan Maurer and Julia Chadderdon rounded out the girls scoring.

Friday March 5VIEW HIGHLIGHT
The second part of the NVAC Alpine Championships, the Giant Slalom races, were held last Friday at Burke. It was a long GS race with over 70 gates and the conditions were chilly – with temperatures in the single digits with a brisk wind blowing all day. The Hilltoppers skied well and both the boys and girls teams have qualified for the State Championships for the 7th year in a row.
The girls came in 4th on the day and were led by Maggie Anderson’s 3rd place finish. Ruby Rolfe placed 18th, Keating Maurer came in 21st, and Madgian Maurer completed the team scoring. Overall, after adding the slalom and GS team scores the girls’ team ended up in 5th place.
The boys won the day and all six racers placed in the top 20, with 4 in the top 10! Tommy Zschau won the race, Cody Van Dine finished in 6th, Cameron Clark placed 9th, and David Kantor rounded out the team scoring with his 10th place finish in a the field of 54 skiers. Wyatt Knaus finished in 16th and Forster Goodrich came in 19th.
When the team score from both days were added up, the boy’s team won the combined NVAC title for the second year in a row.

Maggie Anderson and Tommy Zschau each won the GS race for their gender. Both the girls and boys team’s moved up in the final team scoring. The girls finished 6th out of 9 schools and the boy’s finished in second place out of twelve schools and were the state runner’s up for the second year in a row. Cody Van Dine placed 8th in the field of 83 racers, David Kantor came in 13th, and Forster Goodrich completed the boys team scoring with his 18th place finish.
