Co-Valedictorians and Salutatorian Named
St. Johnsbury Academy has announced the co-valedictorians and salutatorian for the Class of 2021. Constance Hammer, of Monroe, NH, and Luke Young-Xu, of North Haverhill, NH, were named co-valedictorians. Nelson Eaton, of Groton, VT, was named salutatorian.

I am happy to be writing to you on this sunny Friday, especially since it’s been an extra week since my last update. Things haven’t stopped happening as we head into the final three weeks of the term and the year, and we’ve been busy adjusting and confirming plans.

SkillsUSA Students Honored
Eve Codling (l) and Audrey Royer were honored in Chapel this week for their achievements at the state SkillsUSA competition held virtually last month. Codling, a senior, won the top prize in the Commercial Baking division and will compete for the national title in June.

Headmaster has recently announced a new summer initiative that will begin this year on the campus of St. Johnsbury Academy: the SJA Summer Educational Symposium. will give educational leaders the opportunity to work with their peers to reimagine the nature and quality of students’ learning.

Senior Musician to Play with Vermont Youth Orchestra
Senior musician Mason Davis will perform with the Vermont Youth Orchestra on May 2, 2021. After what Mark Alpizar, the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association’s music director, calls a “Senior Solo Audition,” Mason was one of four high school seniors selected to perform as a soloist.

Students Recognized for Accomplishments at Harvard Model Congress
Two St. Johnsbury Academy students have been recognized for their accomplishments at the Harvard Model Congress, held virtually in February. Junior Payton Molleur of Greensboro Bend, VT, and Brooke White, of East Ryegate, VT, received honorable mention for their work.
